Weird, Cute, and Funny

This page is dedicated to things that half of the viewers will think are weird and the other half of the viewers will think that the first half is weird because they’re so cute. The videos, I mean, not the viewers. Though I’m sure that at least some of them are cute enough, for humans anyway. Anyway…

Weird or cute? You be the judge. No, I’ll be the judge. And I say “cute”. Case dismissed.

I’m always on the fence when it comes to wild animals as pets. In fact, I have some reservations about the whole concept of pets to begin with. The history and practice of domestication and selective breeding is indeed as tricky a subject as that of casinos that accept US players. But darn it, I kinda want a pet fox now!

Sugar gliders are just plain cute, and (from what I hear) they make great pets for the right person. Please make sure that you’re that right person before you bring one of these occasionally airborne cuties home!

Creepy. Crawly. Hairy. Fanged. My kind of pet. Now if I could only find a video of one of these pets beating up on a toddler, I could die happy.

And along those same lines…

Yes, don’t keep pet bats. They’re definitely meant to be wild and free. In a perfect world, I’d have bats living in my rafters and we’d all be happy and healthy and get along. Of course, in a perfect world I wouldn’t have enough time to enjoy them because I’d be too busy living in casinos and being the ultra-rich President of the Universe…but if he can’t have pet bats, who can?

On the other hand, it can be a Very Good Thing to have wild animals as pets in some circumstances. Take the endangered Desert Tortoise; people around here (the Mojave Desert) can adopt these not-so-little guys and take care of them (it’s pretty easy, really) in their backyard.
